Donatella Versace for H&M
Donatella Versace is joining the growing rank of designers like Alber Elbaz, Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney in collaborating with the Swedish brand. Versace is set to launch, womenswear, menswear and homeware ranges for H&M which will be available in stores in November, followed by a pre-spring collection which will be available online from 19th January.
“I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching its wide audience,” Donatella said “The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere.”
Although she once declared that she was not big on making diffusion lines, saying that it was not the Versace way back in 2008. “The reason I didn’t do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand,” she said. I have to say I agree with the earlier statement, designer brands would confuse brands like H&M or Mango, but of course it’s nice to see when they are more affordable.
What do you think of this new line?
