MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet
MTV Movie Awards were given out on Sunday. I don’t really care about the awards to be honest, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse won all the major awards. I personally think that it’s very overrated, being a Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fan myself. Never mind the awards, let’s see who hit and missed the red carpet.
Here are my favorites:
Leighton Meester attended the 2011 MTV Movie Awards in a mirrored and sequined Balmain dress, you can see a version of the dress on runway above. She completed her look with Pierre Hardy heels and Bvlgari jewelry. With her hair very natural, face is glowing and perfectly tanned and toned, I think she definitely rocked the red carpet.
Leo’s new girl Blake Lively wore a very conservative dress compared to her previous all-legs appearances, which is a very nice change in my opinion. She chose an electric blue Michael Kors dress from his Resort 2012 Collection which is full with neon colors. She also had Lorraine Schwartz bangles and purple suede Louboutin heels. Not sure suede goes with summer dresses but whatever, I think she looks great.
One thing though, I think Reese Witherspoon’s speech was directed towards Blake when she said “I know it’s cool to be bad, I get it … but it’s also possible to make it in Hollywood without a reality show. When I came up in this business you made a sex tape and you were embarrassed and hid it under your bed and like if you took naked pictures of yourself on your cell phone, you hid your face.” I mean… I don’t think she needs to make a reality show to make it in Hollywood. She’s young, beautiful and she’s trying to be more than Gossip Girl. And no offense to Reese but, Water for Elephants? Come on! Don’t you think she’s still Legally Blonde and nothing more?
Emma Watson wore two Marchesa dresses – a white, embellished shoulder mini dress with Brian Atwood heels for the red carpet and a lime green another dress for the after party. I think she looks great in both of them, although I find the white dress more flattering on her.
Mila Kunis also opted for Balmain for MTV Movie Awards. I think the runway look is sexier with the boots and cut out shirt and everything, but she kept it simple and nice for the show. And she can do A LOT better than Justin.
The Easy A actress Emma Stone wore a dress by Bottega Veneta for MTV Movie Awards. It’s a very pretty cocktail dress, with black lace overlay and a yellow strapless dress underneath. I think she looks very amazing with satin pumps and matching clutch. Although this is too overdressed for the occasion.
The third Balmain of the evening was worn by Kristen Stewart. And not just any Balmain, it’s a transformed version of the safety-pin embellished red jacket, worn by Miss Carmen Kass (like the Bottega Veneta above) on runway. AND it was made by Decarnin, back in the old days. I like the dress a lot, it’s a bold choice, but couldn’t she take care of her hair a little more? Looks like she washed her hair, put on the dress and arrived at the Gibson Amphitheatre in a rush.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley chose a leopard print Dolce&Gabbana number for the red carpet. I have to say the dress looks MUCH better on her than it was on the runway – she shortened the dress, wore some sexy Sergio Rossi sandals and didn’t wear a hat. She looks gorgeous, even though I’m not a fan of leopard prints.
Elle Fanning and Cameron Diaz opted for romper dresses. I like them both actually, Cameron looks very casual yet chic in this black Phillip Lim. Lanvin patent leather sandals are also a nice finish to this ensemble. Elle Fanning kept it cute in the floral Dolce and Gabbana with matching wedges. I think it’s a very breezy and age appropriate choice.
Now let’s talk about age inappropriate. I don’t have any single bad comments on this sequined LV tuxedo, it’s perfect. But Hailee is like what 15 years old and yet she’s wearing a black tux-suit to an MTV Awards show? Also, she is the face of Miu Miu, why did she choose another designer, I really didn’t get that.
I mean… it’s an OK dress, an upcoming trends of the fall season – animal print, but she’s so boring, same look, same pose everywhere – no offense to Reese fans.
Jessica Szohr took a chance in a black and white paisley print jumpsuit. I found another version of her costume from Alice+Olivia collection, I think the red one is slightly better and an updo works better with such a dress, but the one she had on was very unflattering and weird. Maybe she should have consulted her ex-Gossip Girl friends for some fashion advice.
Her co-worker Crystal Reed on the other hand kept it cute in this Ina Soltani below:
OK, Amanda Bynes was totally the WORST of the evening. She’s been wearing this Hervé Leger Dominique dress for how long? And looks very unflattering on her, she is no Blake. And those tasselled, green Louboutins? What’s up with those? There are a gazillion cute, sexy, hip shoes and she goes and wears them? What about that hair style? Get a haircut, get a color change, just do something.
